How to support and empower yourself between sessions

Healing from emotional pain is an essential step towards leading a fulfilling and empowered life. Whether stemming from childhood experiences, toxic relationships, or personal setbacks, these wounds can deeply impact our emotional well-being and self-perception. However, with dedication and the right approach, it is possible to heal and cultivate a positive sense of self.


Here are some effective strategies I share with my clients to help support and empower themselves between healing sessions with me:


Patience and persistence

Healing is a gradual process that requires patience and persistence. Be gentle with yourself as you navigate challenges and setbacks along the way. Celebrate your progress, no matter how small, and trust in your innate capacity for resilience and growth.



Practice self-compassion

Self-compassion involves treating yourself with kindness and understanding, especially during difficult times. Noticing if you are being self critical. Then see if you can adjust your approach to self-compassion instead by recognising that you are deserving of love and respect, regardless of past experiences.


Set boundaries

Setting boundaries is crucial for protecting your emotional well-being. Learn to say no to situations or people that trigger negative emotions or reinforce harmful patterns. Establishing healthy boundaries empowers you to prioritise self-care and respect your own needs.


Practice gratitude

Cultivating gratitude shifts focus towards positive aspects of life, fostering a sense of abundance and well-being. Regularly acknowledge and appreciate small moments of joy, progress, and personal strengths. Gratitude enhances resilience and promotes emotional healing.


Celebrate progress

Healing from past emotional pain is a journey marked by progress, not perfection. Celebrate every small achievement and milestone along the way. Recognise your resilience and courage in confronting challenges head-on. Each step forward reaffirms your capacity for healing and personal transformation.


Seek support

Healing often requires support from others. This can include trusted friends and family members. Talking about your experiences in a safe environment can provide clarity and validation, helping you to process and release pent-up emotions.



Remember, healing is a gradual process that requires patience and a commitment to your own well-being. Implementing these effective self-care strategies between sessions helps to reinforce the healing work we do together.
