With Christmas shopping, parties, children's' activities and year-end plans piling up, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the rush. At this time of year, the last thing on most people’s minds is finding stillness and cultivating "a quiet heart." You might even catch yourself thinking, “I don’t have time for that!” or “What would I need a quiet heart for?”

I am personally aware of the benefits of setting aside quiet time each day, particularly during a busy period. For me, it allows me to reflect on my day, check whether I am living in alignment with my values, release stress and enjoy the nature around me and my own company.
Instead of waiting for the holidays to finally slow down, what if you decided to make space for stillness each day? What if I told you that taking just a few moments each day, to begin with, for quiet time could transform how you approach everything — your family, your friends, your work and even yourself?
At its core, a quiet heart is about cultivating inner calm. It’s not the absence of challenges or distractions; it's the ability to come back to feeling centred and grounded even in the midst of life's busyness. Think of it as cultivating an inner sanctuary—a place you can visit every day, where you can let go of the constant doing and just be.
How to find the time
It could be as simple as waking up a few minutes earlier to sit in silence before the business of the day begins. Or it might mean carving out time after work to take a walk alone, to just breathe. Or perhaps for you, it’s as simple as turning off your devices while your baby is napping and having a moment to enjoy a cup of tea in silence. Everyone's needs and availability are different so savour the moments you can find.
The key is intentionality. You don’t have to wait for a meditation retreat or take weeks off from your busy life to experience the a quiet heart. It’s about making small, consistent choices to nurture your peace — choices that can lead to profound shifts in how you engage with the world around you.
